Indian Scout

The early years of the history of this Indian Scout are not known, but it was registered on 7 August 1959 in the name of Santo Cassaneo Cassano, in the town of Adda, with the number MI 324382. In 1969, it was bought by the racing driver Carlo Leto di Priolo, known for competing in the 1950s at the wheel of Fiat 8V, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Abarth cars in several endurance races such as the Giro di Sicilia or the Mille Miglia, in which he finished ninth in 1954. It was from di Priolo that Umberto Panini bought the Indian in 1973.

The bike has evidently undergone a restoration preserving its authenticity and is in truly enviable condition today. It still has its certification plate from the ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano), number 0165, confirming its historical character. The original service booklet for the bike is also included

It should be recalled that the Scout, introduced in 1920, was technically sophisticated for its time, with a trailing arm fork, a 600cc side-valve V-twin engine, a three-speed gearbox and a geared primary drive. The current example, with its famous provenance, is a fine tribute to this rare historic model.

Note that the motorcycle has been exhibited in a museum and need to be fully serviced.
