What a sight to behold, the Bentley Continental GT. Even if you’re well-acquainted with high-end British automobiles, a Bentley remains an experience in its own right. For years, a beautiful Continental GT had been on my wish list – but you have to stumble upon just the right example, don’t you?
This one is exactly that, in every respect. The glorious V8 delivers precisely what you expect when setting off in a Bentley: supreme comfort, abundant pulling power, and that wonderfully deep rumble when you press the throttle a little harder. The styling of the second-generation Continental GT is refined, clean, and sporty. The bodywork looks spectacular in this exquisite Granite finish, revealing a spectrum of subtle tones depending on how the light falls. The exterior pairs perfectly with the full-leather interior in Porpoise with contrasting Linen – simply stunning. The original 20-inch 10-Spoke Propeller wheels suit the GT’s sporty character beautifully.
A Bentley is a car where everything just feels right – a car you experience in a way that’s entirely your own. Its quality is evident in every detail: the right materials, the right feel, the right atmosphere. Whether you want to cruise leisurely on a rainy day or enjoy an exhilarating high-speed run through the Ardennes, the Continental GT V8 delivers effortlessly.
You might expect there to be a downside to all this – to the seemingly endless power, the intoxicating V8 growl, or the sheer indulgence of its luxury. But there isn’t one. The VAG-sourced V8 is remarkably reliable and impressively efficient. There are no typical drawbacks to watch out for – not even excessive fuel consumption. On a drive to Switzerland, we frequently touched 250 km/h, yet despite the spirited pace, average fuel consumption stayed at just 10.5 litres per 100 km. Extraordinary.
Bentley has mastered the art of blending everything the automotive world has to offer into a single work of art.
If you’re still in doubt, rest assured – the standard all-wheel drive ensures grip and safety during wetter, colder days. The two sculpted rear seats genuinely accommodate two adults, while the spacious boot easily swallows the luggage to match.
So, you’ve made it this far – you’re ready to make one of Bentley’s masterpieces your own. Make sure you choose exactly the right example. It should be a car that’s been regularly enjoyed; these are usually the ones maintained to the highest standard, with services carried out at the proper intervals. This Bentley is precisely that. Delivered new at Bentley Stuttgart. Every service has been performed by official Bentley dealerships, from Cannes to Rotterdam, meticulously recorded in the service book. On top of that, a number of enhancements have been made to make this GT even more special. For instance, an original sports exhaust system has been fitted, which allows the V8 to sing more freely during spirited driving – a tremendous addition, if you ask me! More recently, a glass coating has been applied to protect the paint from the elements, making washing effortless.
Are there any downsides, you might wonder? Honestly, very few. If I had to be picky: the front-right wheel has a tiny mark on its rim, and there’s a one-square-centimetre patch on a trim piece where the clear coat is missing. That’s it.
To further complement its outstanding condition, the Bentley will receive a full service this September at the Netherlands’ most renowned specialist, Brabo Rolls Royce & Bentley in Hillegom. Until then, I’m enjoying every single day with this magnificent GT.
